The Complete AI Readiness Checklist for MENA & African SMEs
Before committing to an AI transformation journey, it is essential to assess your organization’s readiness across multiple dimensions. This checklist—developed from Hunter BI’s experience deploying AI solutions for 100+ businesses across Morocco and Africa—provides a systematic framework for your AI readiness evaluation.
Section 1: Data Infrastructure Checklist
Data is the foundation of AI. Check each item that applies to your business:

- ☐ Operational KPIs are tracked consistently (sales, inventory, service levels)
- ☐ Data from different systems can be connected or exported
- ☐ Data quality is maintained (minimal duplicates, consistent formats)

- ☐ Current process pain points are identified and prioritized
- ☐ Time spent on repetitive tasks has been quantified

- ☐ Modern devices for staff (computers or smartphones capable of running business apps)
- ☐ Cloud storage or server for business data
- ☐ Business email and communication tools in use

- ☐ A champion/sponsor for the AI project is identified

Your AI Readiness Score
Total checks: 25-30 = AI-ready; proceed with confidence. 18-24 = Nearly ready; address identified gaps while beginning low-risk AI pilots. 12-17 = Preparation needed; focus on data and process foundations. Below 12 = Early stage; build digital fundamentals before AI investment.
